Description :
This is a nice little hike into the hills behind the community of Woodranch. I must have driven by this trailhead hundreds of times before finally deciding to explore it and I must say that I'm really glad that I did. There are some great views of Simi Valley once you get to the rim of Montgomery Canyon. Along the trail you'll find native grasses and wild flowers in several locations. This is not a heavily traveled area and you may find that the trails can be a bit over grown in a few sections. Towards the end of the hike, as you get into Oak Canyon, not surprisingly you'll find a good number of oak trees along the trail as you finish out the hike. All and all a pretty good hike.

To get to the trail make a left out of the parking lot and head down the street to the stop light. Cross the street and continue down Long Canyon. You'll find the entrance to the canyon on the right about a block or so down the road.

Directions :
From the 118 Fwy exit First St and head south for 2.7 miles. First turns into Long Canyon Rd at that point and you'll head another half mile to Old Windmill Park which is up on the right.

From the 101 Fwy take the 23 North for 5.1 miles. Exit Olsen Rd and make right. Continue down Olsen Rd and make a right on Wood Ranch Pkwy. Stay on the parkway for 2 miles and make a left onto Long Canyon. Take Long Canyon to Canyon to Canyon View Dr and make a U-Turn. Old Windmill Park is on the right.
